Artworks by Şevket Dağ, a Painter Who Fascinates With His Portrayals of Interiors, in Ankara

The works of Şevket Dağ, one of the most important representatives of the art of painting in Turkey, were brought together for the first time. The exhibition, organised by Humanis, includes 65 paintings, including Dağ's famous painting "Interior of Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya İçi)", and personal belongings.

The works of Şevket Dağ, one of the most important representatives of the art of painting in Turkey, were brought together for the first time. The exhibition, organised by Humanis, includes 65 paintings, including Dağ's famous painting "Interior of Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya İçi)", and personal belongings. The exhibition "A Painter in the Magic of Time and Space: Şevket Dağ (Zaman ve Mekânın Büyüsünde Bir Ressam: Şevket Dağ)" will be open to visitors at CerModern between 5 May-30 July.

The painter Şevket Dağ, who lived between 1875 and 1944, is remembered as one of the most important figures in the history of art with both his works and the students he trained. Dağ, who made a name for himself as one of Osman Hamdi Bey's first students, also took part in the establishment of the Ottoman Painters' Society, which brought together Turkish painters.

ARTWORKS EXHIBITED TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Dağ, who focuses on Istanbul's mosques and historical places in most of his works, fascinates art lovers with his detailed portraits. The artworks of Dağ, who has participated in many group exhibitions so far, were brought together for the first time in the exhibition "A Painter in the Magic of Time and Space: Şevket Dağ". Organised by Humanis, a pharmaceutical company that believes in the healing power of art, the exhibition includes 65 of Dağ's paintings, including his famous "Interior of Hagia Sophia", as well as his personal belongings such as his sketches, palette, paint box, easel and correspondence. A special 400-page Turkish-English album was also prepared by Humanis for this exhibition. This album contains articles by Sinan Genim, Fahri Özdemir, Evrim Altuğ, Malik Aksel, Cemal Tollu, Malik Aksel, Cemal Tollu and Şeref Akdik, as well as visuals of their works and documents and objects related to them. Collected from 42 different collectors, the artworks provide a comprehensive overview of the artist's work.

INTENSE PARTICIPATION FOR THE OPENING AT CERMODERN

Many important names from the art and press world came together at the opening of the exhibition "A Painter in the Magic of Time and Space: Şevket Dağ" at CerModern on 4 May. The opening ceremony started with the speech of Yunus Sancak, CEO of Humanis, and a night full of art was experienced under the moderation of Volkan Severcan, a famous actor and voice actor. Cem Mengi, Chairman of the Board of Saya Group, and theatre artist Tamer Levent were among the speakers.

Yunus Sancak, CEO of Humanis, underlined that art is one of the indispensable parts of life and said the following about the exhibition:

The exhibition 'A Painter in the Magic of Time and Space: Şevket Dağ' at CerModern, one of the important cultural centres of Ankara, will be open to all visitors between 5 May and 30 July. The exhibition is planned to be held in Istanbul in autumn.
